It may be a photographic cliche, but I never get tired of watching the sunrise over Chalong bay.
I got up early yesterday morning to capture the last sunrise of the year:
The tide was very low, leaving much of Chalong bay dry.
I was asleep during the first sunrise of 2009. To those still dragging themselves home from the countdown party, it may have looked like this, only completely out of focus:
Nai Yang beach is right next to Phuket airport, and a fine place to do a bit of plane spotting.
With all the political nonsense going on in Thailand, and the world economy having another bad hangover, some might forget that the sun still rises and sets as always. If you need a break from watching too much late night news bulletins, take a vacation.

Sunday morning I was at the beach in Chalong Bay, when I saw a whole bunch of sailboats pass by. They were having a competition. I don’t know anything about sailing, but it was a good opportunity to give my new tele lens a workout.
